Detox im Januar – warum ich heute mehr esse als früher

January Detox – why I eat more today than I used to

(and my body thanks me for it)

In the past, if someone just mentioned the word detox to me,
my stomach would reflexively rumble.
Not out of hunger – more out of fear.

Detox sounded to me like:
Deprivation, bad mood, an empty fridge
and the feeling that while a few "bad cells" disappear,
my joy of life is disposed of along with them.

And honestly:
Even if theoretically some old burdens disappear –
if in the end the fun is gone too,
it was never an option for me.

Until I understood:

👉 Detox is not deprivation.
👉 Detox is a liberation from the unwanted.
👉 And above all: a loving new beginning for the body.

And that's exactly why I love January for it.

January – my pampering month for the body

I don't fast in January in the classical sense.
I don't starve.
On the contrary: I consciously nourish my body – every day.

My January is not "less",
but better.

What science says (and why I find it exciting)

The Japanese cell biologist Yoshinori Ohsumi received the Nobel Prize in Medicine,
because he researched a fascinating process: autophagy.

Simply explained:
Our body can break down and recycle old, damaged or faulty cell components itself.
A kind of internal clean-up.

This process is activated, among other things,
when the body is not constantly overloaded,
but well supplied and relieved.

And this is exactly where the key lies for me:
👉 not to starve,
👉 but to provide high-quality nutrients,
so that the body can do its work.

My personal January routine (completely honest & suitable for everyday life)

🌅 The Morning

  • Oil pulling with black sesame oil
(more nutritious than classic sesame oil)
  • a glass of warm water
  • 2 tsp black cumin oil
  • 10–15 minutes of exercises to stimulate lymphatic flow
  • No stress. No pressure to perform.
Just gently ease into the day.

☕ Lunch and Dinner

An important part of my January detox is fermented foods.
I regularly eat sauerkraut – not as a small side dish, but very consciously as food for my gut.

Fermented foods support the intestinal flora, strengthen the immune system and help the body absorb nutrients better. In combination with high-quality oils, this is a real dream team for me.

Throughout the day, I drink a lot:

  • warm water
  • tea with lemon, ginger and cloves
  • coffee without milk with 1 tsp walnut oil

Especially at lunchtime I love:

  • fine, warming vegetable soups
  • simple, seasonal, easily digestible

Soups relieve the gut, supply the body with minerals and warm from within – exactly what the body needs in January.

In the evening, I have a lot of vegetables again, and if I eat meat, it's really good quality from the butcher.

No dogma. No coercion.
Just good food.

🌙 Evening Ritual

My body also needs to regenerate at night.

  • Thoroughly cleanse face in the evening (never in the morning)
  • Grapeseed oil + apricot kernel oil
  • then my night cream

Skincare is part of detox for me.

What I consciously avoid in January

Not out of compulsion, but because it feels right, I avoid the following in January:

  • Sweets
  • Alcohol
  • Dairy products
  • Cold dishes
  • Highly processed foods

I prefer to eat fish over meat
and leave out anything that further burdens my body.

It's not about prohibitions,
but about a break for the digestive system.

Why good oils are so important

Imagine your body as a teddy bear factory 🧸
If you only use cheap, thin threads,
the bears might look good for a short time –
but soon the seams will tear, buttons will fall off, and holes will appear.

Or like a kitchen:
With bad ingredients, even the best recipe is useless.

👉 Quality is decisive.

Cold-pressed organic oils:

  • provide essential fatty acids
  • contain naturally occurring vitamins
  • help the body absorb fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K)
  • support digestion and bowel function
  • are nourishing, not irritating

They fill the body with what
it urgently needs in winter.

The three detox oils for my January

  • Black Sesame Oil – Depth, minerals, cell nutrition
  • Camelina Oil – Balance, Omega-3, everyday suitability
  • Black Cumin Oil – Immune system, gut, inner strength
  • Not as a cure.
But as a monthly rebuilding phase.

Conclusion – Detox means: replenishing instead of abstaining

Detox means for me:

  • to take the body seriously
  • to fill it with valuable things
  • to give it time – at least a month

So that it comes through the winter months
strengthened, nourished and resilient.

And honestly:
If detox feels this good,
I'm happy to stick with it.
