Application

How to get the most out of your organic flaxseed oil

2–3 teaspoons per day is a good guideline for a mindful daily routine.

Morning or evening – what's better?

Morning: Ideal for a gentle start – flaxseed oil can be well tolerated on an empty stomach.

Evening: Also possible, especially in combination with quark, yogurt, or warm drinks.

Decide based on how you feel. Regular intake is more important than the time of day.

How you can enjoy your Josty cold-pressed flaxseed oil
✔️ Plain – 2-3 teaspoons slowly in your mouth, with some lukewarm water or lemon water
✔️ In muesli, porridge, or yogurt/quark – adds creaminess and a mild, nutty flavor
✔️ Over steamed vegetables, salads, or raw food – after plating
✔️ In potato dishes – a classic companion to potatoes with quark
✔️ In bowls, dips, or spreads – for a delicate, plant-based note

💡 Tip: Do not heat flaxseed oil. The valuable omega-3 fatty acids are best preserved if you add the oil only after cooking or directly to cold dishes.

Our Production

Our organic flaxseed oil is gently cold-pressed from the seeds of the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum) and regularly produced fresh in our small oil mill in Hausen am Albis (ZH).

We deliberately press our oil in small quantities and very slowly, without heating the seeds beforehand. The pressing temperature always remains below 37 °C. This way, the delicate omega-3 fatty acids are optimally preserved – for an oil that arrives fresh and vibrant.
Because the oil is unfiltered when bottled, a fine sediment may form at the bottom. This is not a defect, but a sign of unadulterated production.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why is linseed oil so healthy?
High-quality linseed oil naturally contains a high proportion of omega-3 fatty acids as well as other plant-based components typical of flaxseed.
Gentle cold pressing ensures that these properties are optimally preserved.

2. What does freshly pressed linseed oil taste like?
Mild, nutty, and finely balanced – with a soft, slightly tart note.
Fresh, cold-pressed linseed oil tastes clear and pleasant. Strongly bitter or fishy notes, however, indicate inferior quality or lack of freshness.

3. Can you take linseed oil every day?
Yes. 2–3 teaspoons daily is a good amount – in the morning or in the evening, as you prefer.

4. How do I recognize high-quality linseed oil?
By its freshness, color, and taste.
A good linseed oil is slightly golden yellow, smells pleasantly mild, and tastes clear – without disturbing bitter substances.
The processing also plays a central role:
cold-pressed, natural, and produced in small batches.

5. Why do the seeds come from Switzerland and Europe?
Wherever possible, we work with Swiss producers.
At the same time, we select our seeds based on quality – not borders. Therefore, depending on the harvest, we also source them from carefully selected organic farms in neighboring Europe.
What matters is not just the location.
But how something is created.

Origin of the seeds

Depending on the harvest, our flax seeds come from selected organic farms in Switzerland and neighbouring European countries.

Pressing takes place exclusively in our oil mill in Switzerland – with short distances, clear origin and full transparency.

From seed to bottle, everything remains traceable.
And that's exactly what makes the difference.
